What is the book of shadows?
from Purplewitch on 10/13/2017 07:50 AMThe book of shadows is a book/journal people who practice any kind of witchcraft or sourcery keep to write down infomation, ingredience, and records of their craft. And most pages also involve chants and prayers (abit like a bible or quran used by religeous people) some also include runes especially those who are advanced at the craft and prefer to keep their crafts secrate.
In ancient times it was unknown, never seen or found out weather or not witches had books or journals recording their crafts like we do today, We beleive the reason being is because witchcraft was illigal and if found or confessed could lead to excecution or any accusation lead to torture for a confession. Witches would generally pass infomation down to each other orally or were known to folow their own instincts and use their own intuition and had great power to cast how they liked or thought and felt without any given infomation, its because of them that today we find infomation from people who are blood born with witchcraft families who have had infomation passed from centuries and would often write books to reveal this to people today.

Beginning a Reading - for beginners
from Purplewitch on 10/13/2017 04:23 AMWhen you are reading for yourself or for a friend, sit comfortably and lay out the cards on a clean, protected surface. As you consciously make space for the cards, you are creating a psychological space for yourself and anyone you are reading for.
Take the cards and shuffle them. If reading for a friend, you can ask them to shuffle the cards. the shuffling is important because you need to think of your question as you do this, Allowing events and emotions to surface. you may find that you conciously or unconciously turn cards upside down. if you are a baginner, you may prefer to turn them upright, but as you feel increasingly confident with your readings you can leave the cards in the reversed positions and refer to the reversed interpretations. Shuffle until you feel you are ready to stop, then cut the deck twice with your left hand, making three piles, Place the last cut on top of the remaining pile, Deal the cards from the top of the pile, Face down. For the simpler spreads, some readers prefer to spread the cards in a fan shape, and select the cards individually, While some prefer to ask the person they are reading for to do this. Choose whichever method you feel is intuitively right for you.
you are now ready to lay a spread, or arrangement of cards, ready for a reading.

Tarot deck for beginners
from Purplewitch on 10/13/2017 12:53 AMHere is all the infomation you need to know about the tarot deck.
The standard tarot deck consists of 78 cards, comprising 22 major arcana cards and 56 minor arcana cards.
The word arcana is latin in derivation, and means secrate.
The origin of Tarot is the subject of much debate. It has been suggested that they were conceived in Egypt and their name is a corruption of Thoth (The ancient Egyptian god of magic) conversely, others beleive that tarot cards began in china, India, or ancient Greece.
There is some evidence that cards existed in fourteenth-century Germany, Belgium, and France (The word Tarot is the french name for the cards) but the first reference to the Tarot as we know it, with its major and minor arcanas, was in Italy during the fifteenth century.
There is no rule about acquiring tarot cards. Superstition holds that it is unlucky to buy your own cards or, conversely, that it is equally unlucky to be given them. Buy them for yourself or others, and receive them with grace. The essential part of working with the cards is to choose those that instinctively appeal to you.
When working with a new deck of cards, it is important that you become familiar with them. some tarot readers suggest sleeping with the deck under your pillow for the first seven days that they are brought into your home. weather you decide to do this or not, it is important to spend time studying each individual card, and look up its associated interpretation. Take note of those cards with which you feel less comfortable, and consider their positive meanings. quite often, These are the "Bad" cards, such as The tower, Death, or the Devil. However even those cards that appear unfortunate usually have a good side, offering insight and a constructive way to deal with even the worst circumstances.
Finally it is important that you dissuade people from playing with or using your cards, particualy when you are still bonding with a new deck. the cards are sensitive to your energies. so the more you handle them, the more accurate the readings are. other peoples energies can cause confusion, therefore, always be the last person to touch them after a reading. keep your cards wrapped in black or dark purple silk in a favourite box when they are not being used. always care for them and treat them with respect.

Powerful love spell
from Purplewitch on 10/12/2017 11:41 PMPowerful candle love spell
what you will need:
- 4 white pillar candles
- 1 yellow candle
- 1 orange candle
- 1 green candle
- 1 purple candle
- 1 pink candle
- 1 red candle.
- plate, tile or platform for the center of your altar to put candles on.
- place 1 of your white pillar candles on the top left of your altar to represent protection during your spell so no bad entities will get near the spell to turn it bad, it will also protect you from anything bad happening to you.
- place 1 white pillar candle on the top right corner of your altar for power enhancement of your spell...it comes into connection with the protection candle
- now place your plate or tile in the center of your altar.
- place 1 white pillar candle on the top left of the plate for male energy
- place 1 white pillar candle on the top right of the plate for female energy.
- now light all 4 of these candles starting with protection, then power, then male then female.
- first i lit the red candle and placed it on the plate and then soon after i lit the red candle and placed it close to the pink candle id say about 4cm appart, so pretty close. i used pink representing love and red representing lust, the red also represented our star signs, we are both aries and the red candle represents aries in candle magick too.
- secondly i lit the purple candle and placed it on the plate, this represented power and concerntration to the spell and giving me the psychological instincts of each step of the spell taking place.
- third, i then lit the green candle and placed it on the plate, this represented fertility, stability and luck.
- then i lit the orange candle, this represented attraction and luck.
- then i lit the yellow candle representing happiness, control, and concerntration to the spell.
Also when doing this spell, i took notes on which candles burnt the quickest, how tall the flames were and how the wax fell on the candle. you can do this too, just journal it because there are other meanings to candle wax and flames and the timing of candles burning down, this will soon be posted in the discussion boards too so you can look into it.

The Pentacle
from Purplewitch on 10/12/2017 08:16 PMFor all you beginners who have recently just entered the craft i have a basic explenation of the pentacle for you and i will make it very easy to understand. we will get to the more advansed stuff once this discussion has been understood and a different topic will be created in time :)
Here we have the 5 pointed star which often has a circle around it and we call it the Pentacle.
The pentacle represents our 5 elements that we often use in our spell work. Spirit - Ourselfs, Water - Cleansing, Fire - Heat, Earth - Grounding, and Air - words we speak. the meanings for the elements are my own beleifs and how i use them in my own spell work, you can choose your own.
Not only do witches use this in spell work but we also use it in astrology too, all the zodiac signs are grouped into each elemts and resembles the personalities of the zodiac signs too, the topic on this will be continued in a different discussion about astrology and elements.
